North Indian Goddess Tour Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1, Delhi: Arrival in India and transfer from airport to Hotel. Settle into hotel. Afternoon optional Spa, shopping.

Day 2, Delhi:  Visit the great Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, the most important mosque in India and a tour of the Red Fort, built by the famous Mogul Emperor Akbar. Then set off on an exciting rickshaw ride through Chandi Chowk, the largest wholesale market in India. New Delhi visit includes Qutab Minar; one of the earliest remains of Imperial Delhi (13th century AD) Humayun's Tomb-the fine monument believed to be forerunner of Taj Mahal. Drive tour of India Gate, Parliament House, President's House, Secretariat Building, visit the Laxminarayan Temple.

Day 3, Delhi, Manwar: Morning flight to Jodhpur. On arrival, drive to Manwar.  After lunch go on a jeep safari to visit Bishnoi Tribe. Evening camel ride.

Day 4, Manwar, Jodhpur: Overland to Jodhpur. Visit Mehrangarh Fort. Within the fort visit Fort Museum, Moti Mahal, Pearl Palace, the Palace of Flowers and the Hall of Mirrors along with the Jaswant Thada (Royal family cenotaphs).

Day 5, Jodhpur, Pushkar: Overland to Jaipur via Pushkar. Stop in Puskhkar for lunch and visit the lake at Pushkar which is believed to have been created by Lord Brahma himself.  There are as many as 400 temples in Pushkar and lake is circled by 52 Ghats built over the years by several kings and nobles. The most sacred and important temples are dedicated to Lord Brahma, Shiva, Badri Narayan, Varaha, Gayatri and Savitri. The important Ghats are the Varaha, Brahma and Gau.

Day 6, Jaipur: Morning elephant excursion to Amber Fort. Amer is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Built in the 16th century by Raja Mansingh in red sandstone and white marble, the palace complex has some very interesting apartments including the Jai Mandir, Sheesh Mahal, Sukh Niwas, Ganesh Pol and Temple of Kali. Afternoon visit to the Maharaja's City Palace, the home of the erstwhile royal family, the Observatory, Ram Niwas Gardens, Hawa Mahal or the Palace of winds built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and drive through the old part of Jaipur city.  Shopping and Leisure time.

Day 7, Jaipur: Morning visit to the Silver Market and specialty gem shops. Afternoon leisure time in the old city for shopping. Afternoon Tea at Rambagh Palace with optional astrology reading.

Day 8, Jaipur, Agra: Over land drive Agra via Fatehpur Sikri. Built by Emperor Akbar as his palace in the 16th century and then later abandoned, “ruined” Fatehpur Sikri is a fairy-tale ghost city of delicately carved red sandstone. Continue to Agra and catch your first glimpse of the famous Taj Mahal.

Day 9, Agra: Today, visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Agra Fort and the immortal Taj Mahal. Flawless in its proportions and breathtaking in its beauty — a vision of unrivaled magnificence. Pay your first visit to the masterpiece this morning with the rising sun. Continue to the impressive Agra Fort. Built of red sandstone and marble, Agra Fort presents a formidable exterior and a graceful interior. Return to the Taj Mahal in the late afternoon, as the setting sun bathes the monument in soft orange, for another view of this wonder of the world with a special dinner at the Oberio with Indian Classical dance and a view of the Taj by moonlight.

Day 10, Agra, Varanasi:  Fly to Varanasi, a city of more than a thousand temples and shrines, sacred to Hindus and Buddhists alike. Explore the Ghats by foot and optional shopping for famous Banarasi Silk. At dusk, head to the banks of the sacred Ganges River to witness the Aarti ceremony. Take in the sounds of chanted prayers and rhythmic drumming as you watch the Hindu priests conduct the evening pujas.

Day 11, Varanasi:  Sunrise boats ride on the Ganges. Visit Varanasi’s highlights, including the 18th- century Durga Temple, devoted to the Hindu deity, Durga, and Bharat Mata Temple, dedicated by Mahatma Gandhi to Mother India.

Day 12, Varanasi, DelhiMorning tour of Sarnath, a park where Gautama Buddha is said to have given his first sermon 25 centuries ago. Afternoon flight to Delhi. Optional shopping in Delhi pending on time of international departure.

All tours are limited to ten women per tour. Minimum of five bookings required. Registration on a first come first serve basis.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

All requests for cancellations must be received in writing.

Cancellation charges:

More than 90 days prior to departure $500 per person.

61 to 90 days prior to departure $1000

60 to 31 days prior to departure 50% of the price of the tour.

30 days prior to departure 100% of the price of the tour. 

For this and other reasons, participants are strongly encouraged to purchase trip cancellation insurance.
